11-13 September 2016, Hamburg, Germany
YOUMARES is a unique bottom-up organized conference for young marine scientists and engineers, which takes place yearly under the umbrella of the annual meeting of the “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Meeresforschung”.
The 7th YOUMARES conference to be held from September 11th -13th in Hamburg (Germany) under the title “People and the 7 seas – interaction and inspiration” aims to link the human dimension to marine ecological research. In 11 parallel sessions young marine researchers from BSc. to PhD level from around the world will discuss and present work ranging from individual to ecosystems level and from coral reefs to polar ecosystems.
Last year’s YOUMARES 6 featured 126 participants - 10 sessions - 47 presentations - 29 posters.
Tom will host the “Deep, Dark and Cold - Frontiers in polar and deep sea research” session, which in the spirit of MARmaED’s core principles, "aims to advance our common understanding of biological processes and interactions from individual to ecosystem level in polar oceans and the deep sea. We aim to understand baseline dynamics and how synergistic effects of climate change and a portfolio of human activities from fisheries to mineral resource exploitation impact these ecosystems."
Romain will do an oral presentation at the session "Marine species interactions and ecosystem Dynamics, implications for management and Conservation". His talk is entitled "Tensor Decomposition reveals spatio-temporal dynamics of fish communities"
